Have you ever heard the saying that goes something like give everyone a smile it doesn’t cost you anything and it could make someone’s day? Smiles warm people’s heart and if they are having a bad day a smile might just make their day. As I have said before that when you are disabled and you are out in public you are the face of the disability. So if you smile and say hello to someone it will help people see that we are people too. Many people fear blindness more than public speaking so I think it is important for me to show them that there is life after becoming blind. You never know how one thing that seems small to you may mean the world to someone else.
I have had several conversations with people that asked me questions about my blindness and I think I made a difference in at their thinking about the stereotypes.
What makes your day?
- Someone saying hello
- Someone holding the door open for you
- Something else
If you answer something else please let me know what makes your day.
