In my last article I wrote about how F stands for fear and how it is natural to have fear after becoming disabled. But after talking with a friend of mine who happens to be totally blind why have the negative word? So how about we take a look at the word Freedom.
Becoming disabled can give you the freedom to totally makeover your life. I am a very good example of this, before losing my sight I was a reviewer analyst at a medical billing company with only a high school education. Now don’t get me wrong, I liked my job, okay I liked the people I worked with the job itself was pretty boring. But, the pay was pretty good and I had benefits. Then without warning I got sick. Within three months I went from having 20/20 vision to now they tell me 20/10,000 – okay so I can count fingers.
Freedom was the last word I would have thought of at the time I was dealing with all of my changes, so I know you are probably saying Yvonne you have lost your marbles. But, becoming disabled I was able to go to college, start my business and now able to help you see that you now have the Freedom to make your life look like you may have only dreamt of before.
I would like to take a moment to explore this idea a little. When you were young and first got into the career you were doing when you became disabled was it your first choice? Have you ever had a little voice in the back of your head that said something like “I wish I could have…”? Well, now you have the freedom to explore those dreams. It took me ten years to figure out what I wanted to do and where I fit in now that I am “disabled”, I don’t want you to have to wait that long that is why I started my business to help you figure it out and to hold your hand along the way.
So, just remember you do not have to fear the unknown, try to think about the freedom you have just been given. If you would like to work with me please feel free to contact me for a free 30 minute consultation where we can talk and see if we are a good fit.
I look forward to hearing from you, and remember to dream big!
