I attended 2 different colleges, both after I was legally blind. The first was HACC which is a community college and I had a wonderful experience. They were very accommodating. I then went to Millersville Univ. and while they also had a good disability department, I just did not feel quite as supported as I did at HACC. All of my professors were wonderful though! They were more than helpful and I would say better equipped to handle disabled students than the professors at HACC. It is interesting. Are you disabled? Did you go to college, if so what were your experiences? Please share, I would love to know.
My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn’t prevent you doing well, and don’t regret the things it interferes with. Don’t be disabled in spirit as well as physically.
